Despite the fact that the built in speakers of modern day televisions have improved dramatically, you cannot better a television that has it’s own independent speaker system. If you are just a soap watcher you may not feel the difference much but this could be a glorious option for movie buffs or those who watch DVDs, blu-ray or even gamers. Of course most good TVs have built-in speakers but nothing compares to a full surround audio system. A common reason to buy an HD Television set, aside from the current mass marketing, is after viewing a friends or relatives new set.
Before you hurry to buy a HD television set, ensure that you know what you are looking for and what could be your budget for the item. If you are going to be buying - or already have - surround sound speakers, as a general rule of thumb, 10 percent of the TV’s cost should be spent on speaker cabling. You will most likely need an amp, or av receiver also to control the external speakers. This is an additional cost running into hundreds or even thousands and cannot be explained in one single article.
When buying and installing speakers you need to look at around five speakers to each sub-woofer that is fitted. Most speaker systems are configured so there are two rear speakers, left and right plus a central speaker. Each is independent and although the positions done have to be equal the optimum seating place is in the middle of them all. Most AV receivers / amps can be configured however to control the volume they output at to offset the speaker location accordingly.

The sub-woofer basically creates the “oomph” in a movie so having a capable sub-woofer will enhance your movie enjoyment greatly. It can give sound a completely real life feel, which is available only in theater halls. Moreover the deep bass frequencies, which you hear from sub woofers, are practically from all sides as they are at the level or below human hearing levels. It is impossible to detect from which direction the sound is coming, so the sound of an earthquake feels as if it is happening all around us.
The subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the room, however, optimum results depend on room size, floor type, furnishings, and wall construction. Usually the perfect placement of the sub woofer is in the front portion of the room, to the right of left of the main speakers. Oftentimes it is easier and less expensive to have speakers that have been previously owned. If you are looking for the best speakers in the market, then if budget permits, go for the Canton movie CD-1 (now CD-101), which not only looks chic with smart aluminum construction, fabulous sound quality and an attention grabber.
